First-quarter sales in the Hamptons were the strongest they’ve been in six years

What comes to mind when you think of the perfect summer? Is it the sun and the sand? Us too. Finding the perfect place for a summer home rental that checks off all your boxes can be difficult. But, we have a place in mind.

When the pandemic began, New York City residents flocked to the Hamptons to escape the spread of the virus in the city. Now, they’re flocking to enjoy a relaxing, summer getaway. In fact, first-quarter sales in the Hamptons were the strongest they’ve been in six years.

This is great news for those looking to list properties in the Hamptons. The Hamptons real estate scene has plenty to offer vacation-seekers. It’s great for family vacations, couple getaways, or extended girls or guys’ trips. We’ve outlined a few of the reasons renters should consider the Hamptons for their summer vacation.

The Location

The Hamptons is a region of towns, villages, and hamlets grouped on the eastern end of Long Island. The area is most known for its oceanside lifestyle and small-town charm, despite its close proximity to the big city. It’s made up of two towns with their own distinct personalities, the town of Southampton and the town of East Hampton. Southampton is generally more laid back and less exclusive. East Hampton is what many traditionally think of when they imagine the Hamptons. This is where Hampton real estate tends to get more expensive.

The most popular areas to rent are East Hampton, Montauk, Sag Harbor, Southampton, and Amagansett. East Hampton Village features East Hampton Main Beach, where much of the fabulous restaurants and shopping can be found. In 2019, there were more than 1,500 rentals in East Hampton. The term “East Hampton” accounted for 12.7 percent of searches. That percentage has continued to decrease as Montauk has become more popular as well.

It’s a destination seemingly snatched out of a blockbuster movie. The Hamptons are where the stressed go to relax and leave worries behind, just what the summer is for. The area is very accessible and it only takes about 2 hours to reach from New York City by car or train.

You should know, not everyone travels by road and rail. One of the sights here is the number of people that ride in on helicopters. If that alone doesn’t tell you how sought after the Hamptons is, you might want to read on.

The Beach

One of the most amazing things about the Hamptons isn’t just the beautiful body of water surrounding it, but the land itself. On one side is the Atlantic Ocean and on the other is the Peconic Bay. This incredible sight came from the two Long Island eastern forks. Residents (and renters) everywhere witness expansive ocean views while relaxing and taking in the fresh, sea breeze.

Real estate drone videography and photography are a strong trend in vacation rental marketing utilized to show off the surrounding scenery. Listings are meant to show off the property’s “it” factor. The Hamptons’ views are certainly part of that.

The region is a relatively small piece of land, another reason why it is considered so exclusive. Visitors are always close to the water, no matter where the summer home or rental property is located. We haven’t mentioned the incredible pools that can be found all over town as well.

The Social Scene

Speaking of pools, wait until you experience a pool party in the Hamptons. If your summer home doesn’t have a pool, no need to fret. There is almost always someone throwing a pool party nearby. The options are plentiful, and these parties are a great way to network and meet new people.

So, in case you are wondering if all the pools in the Hamptons are just for tanning and reading summer novels, you haven’t even scratched the surface. The social butterflies of the Hamptons will often end up at one of the exclusive nightclubs in the area to finish off the evening. The nightclub scene here is considered famous, with an abundance of elaborate indoor and outdoor venues and some of the most talented DJs around. After all, there must be a good reason why P. Diddy throws his glamorous white parties in the Hamptons. During the summer, parties last well into the early morning hours.

P. Diddy is only one of the A-List faces that grace the Hamptons real estate on a regular basis. The area is renowned for the large number of celebrities it attracts.

Imagine spotting your favorite celebrity casually walking by as you’re out fetching your morning coffee. That paired with the little to no paparazzi in sight to spoil the surreal moment, would make this encounter feel like a dream. The lack of paparazzi makes the area an escape for recognizable faces. Celebrities such as Jimmy Fallon, Alec Baldwin, Brooke Shields, and Anderson Cooper come here often as an escape from their busy Hollywood lives.

The Culture

Along with its magnificent beaches, delicious dining, and exciting nightlife, the Hamptons also features a refined art scene. Artists such as Jackson Pollack, Lee Krasner, and William de Kooning lived in Springs, a hamlet in East Hampton. You’ll find art galleries and museums featuring local, national, and international artists. Many artists have found inspiration and solace in the Hamptons. You can read more about its rich art history here

The food also lives up to the luxurious lifestyle. From fresh seafood to dessert delicacies, the food scene has it all. Visitors will crave a lobster roll year-round until they visit again. Unique local and international dishes are waiting for a taste.

The Lifestyle

The Hamptons isn’t just another summer destination- it’s a lifestyle. Just ask the cast of Summer House, a reality tv show featuring young professionals who escape to the Hamptons from their jobs in the city. This is a place where New Yorkers (and others) can freely ride their bikes without being honked at by commuters or feel the need to rush. Everyone here is at ease and eager to have fun and relax.

Without the road rage, the 24/7 traffic, and the infamous New York City attitude, renters can settle into this secluded world and grab their daily lunch in peace. The local businesses are prepared to serve renters and provide the best possible experience during your stay.

So, have we convinced you? The Hamptons is a combination of fun energy and relaxing mantras. It provides renters with all of the tools needed to create the vacation of their dreams. It’s exactly why the Hamptons is the perfect place for a summer home rental.
